If there is a "Holy Grail" of Ted Williams stoves, I think this may be it. It was only made ONE year. This was the last year of the usage of the name "J C Higgins" on camping gear. After that it was Ted Williams. I has the "optional" wind screens as well. It's going to be my winter restoration project. I found a dead match hammertone paint for it. It's not going to be to bad to strip/bead blast. Here's some more images. I'll post more images when it's all finished and LIT!!! Bob
The stoves in both posts are were made by Porolon and marketed under the J.C. Higgins brand by Sears and Roebuck. The J.C. Higgins brand was used from 1908 until 1962. Sears had a habit of naming lines of merchandise for employees who were key members of the company. John Higgins was a vice president at one time. The Dunlop tool line was named after another Sears employee. The Porolon stoves date from about the end of the Higgins period. Terry Marsh lists a couple dated 1961.
