Hi, first time on here, trust this is the correct forum for puzzling out my 8R problem. Cleaned the orifice, replaced the wick, cap gasket, no leaks...but, it appears that little/no fuel getting through...pumped it, primed it, and only the smallest amount of fuel comes out with a minute flame. Suggestions please.
First thing...take the rack/pricker out and see if it improves. Did you use too much wick? Packed too tightly it will impede the flow of fuel. Smart(er) people here will have other thoughts...
Do you have the burner plate and all the parts? The fuel has got to hit the plate. Once pressure builds in the tank, fuel will come out of the jet.
Put it on a high shelf and forget about it. It's what I've done with mine. Invest in a BRS12 and try to make it work with kerosene might be more successful.
Wick too tightly wound eh? I'll re-do it later today. That may well it as definitely nothing is getting through. Thanks! Yeah, first time I visited this site I eagerly read Ian's post...revisited last week and used it to re-do the wick which is likely too tight. This is soon helpful. thanks Lol...no,I used a plastic lid and it seems to =seal but, I''m heading out now to buy the right stuff. Thanks!
