    Hi,

I suffered a failure of my stove's ErgoPump. The leather cup tore beyond any repair. As I am on a bicycle trip and always equipped with a pump, I fixed that using a valve from an old inner tube:

I hope the picture is self-explanatory and might help someone with similar problem. A bike pump requires less pushes to get the correct pressure (mine takes 2 pushes with full bottle, up to 6 while almost empty).

Easy to overpressurize, which causes HUGE fuel consumption.

PS: Where can I get a fresh leather cup without paying for entire expensive Primus repair kit?

Ingenious and double security against a fuel leak with essentially two non-return valves in tandem!

Nice! That's "thinking on your feet"!

You are, I suppose, aware that bicycle inner tube isn't oil resistant and is sensible to the fuel.
Won't be a problem as long as the NRV in your original pump tube functions properly though.

Great idea and btw great trip you're doing!

This would also be very helpful for the poor "100stroker" Soto Muka user

I was looking at Sefa's eBay offerings and he didn't have a listing for the ergo pump. Does anyone know if the leather is a similar size to the nova pump? 13mm?

I asked Sefa but he wasn't sure.

Yes, the cup for Optimus Nova will perfectly work with Primus ErgoPump.

From a visual perspective the leather pump cups appear to be the same size in diameter and thickness (not pictured).

The ID measurement of the pump tubes is very close. Disclaimer: The digital caliper in the photo is not certified or calibrated by any authority.

That is an amazing bit of jigeddy-pokery!!! I will definitely keep that in mind!!!

Thanks also, emes and quiet stove for confirming what I suspected about the interchangeability of the nova and ergo pump leathers.

I've asked Sefa the exact same question and gotten a similar response. His leathers are great! I was comparing some of his to the oem ones out of the maintenance kit. His are nicer for sure.

Each pump rod assembly appears to function in its non-native pump tube. Neither configuration in the photo below is approved by QuietStove or any authority.
