Found this little gem earlier in the week. Just got round to giving it a little clean and fired her up. Did the boil test (600ml) in less than 5 mins. Which is very good for such a little stove. I use that method of 600ml in my titanium pot as it's the right amount for two cups. I used Panel wipe, to test her as the tank was full of old pump petrol. I primed with meths in the tank dimple as i dont have the pre heating tablets. She sputtered a bit at first then roared into life. Nice little compact stove. And in great condition. Plus a bargain price, so all in all i'm very happy with the No7.
Nice catch and great little stove! I never use paste or tablets to light - I normally put a “circle” of glassfiber wick (held round by some thin metal wire) in the pre-heating cup and then pour meth. over it. Works every time and is specially good on cold days, as it tends to give more heat to both burner head and tank.
Never used one of these in my time in the Army. Which I regret now. Perfect size to take anywhere and so simple to fire up. This will get used for quick brews on the road.
I use its brother the Primus 71 quite a lot for a “walk and a brew”. Easy, lightweight and reliable, but I am also interested in one of these 7’s
I had a Radius 42 in one of those Army no 7 tins some years back. Great combination. Still regret the day I sold it. Bjørn
Thanks. I usually go for more modern military stoves. But I really like this one. It's simple, compact and works really well. Regards John
I got the wick replacement down on these small stoves, so more knowledgable about replacing them and stove running poorly. I have three different Radius 42 with tins in my collection. Duane
@Army J , Well done, on scoring an excellent little stove, which burns like the 7 hells, for a little stove!! Congrats to you on your good fortune, and have fun with it!! Thanks, for sharing, and God Bless! Every Good Wish, Doc
If you are still looking at selling then get in touch as that is a near perfect condition one. And I would treasure that!let me know how much etc. Cheers. John
