Tried this combo out of curiosity.

A Primus 100 Silence Cap on my Phoebus 725.
Works fine with a lot of heat!
    - and quite silent compared to the usual flame plate roar!
(But had forgotten how hot that little workhorse gets after running for like 7 min. !! )

Might give it a try in the woods next time.

The original caps from the 625 also fit quite well, but new, higher, potstands are required then.

    Hi @Sternenlicht
Yes - I tried that combo first - but here on my 725 - the 625 combo was very wind-sensitive, so the slightest blow would switch the burner into immediately underburn. With the Primus its quite wind-stable.

    Hej @Harder D. Soerensen
Good hint, I never tried that combo outdoors.
If I get a Primus 100 some time I will also try that!

    Ciao, Bastian

I just bought the cap itself (since it actually fits a broad variety of stoves) from Julians/Ebay - But I can see its out of stock right now.

    Beautiful scenery!

With the regular flame plate its one of the most noisy stoves I have - even compared to a MSR XGK-EX and a 530. But a tough little performer!

    It’s true!

How are things with you in Denmark Harder with this virus thing? I guess you’ll be involved in the emergency response some how?

Thanks for asking John - Things are running pretty tight - regulations on gatherings and such. No visiting to my old mum on 79 in order not to jeopardize her health.

Everybody in Defence HQ who is able to work from home - must do so.
So right now my own team of 9 guys and myself is working from home by mail, phone and a bunch of Tele-conferences. So we are just as busy as normally. The younger Captains who has smaller children are flexing/working odd hours in order to maintain their homes and families.
How about you and yours John?

Good thinking. I very much like the 725 and I have a 100 silent cap somewhere.

Sorry to hear about you being unable right now to throw an arm round your Mum.

Me and mine are ok thanks. For the two of us (self and wife) it’s not much different from retired life!

For our daughter in London and our son in Tokyo things are a bit weirder. They’re both home-working so are at least still in paid employment and occupied.

It must be tough for self-employed people and those laid off and of course I wish all the best for the folk most endangered; the old, the sick and our ‘essential’ workers, not now just medics and emergency staff but those working in supermarkets and so on.

    Cheers,

    John

Those are definitely little workhorses and a good idea to try that silent cap.
When I first started out with these old stoves one of my earliest swap finds was one of these little guys in real nice shape. I just never really got attached to it and for some reason, I thought ...

"Oh they are such simple little stoves that there are probably lots of them around."

I let it go...Well... haven't seen another one at the swaps and now I wouldn't mind having it back. They seem to command a decent price on that auction site. Live and learn... *sobs* :( lol

Thanks for the great idea! Today I received an Ahno 100 with burner plate and silence cap. On the Anho the flame is little rich, but on the Phoebus it burns great!!

    Ciao, Bastian

My 725 bought on the 'bay came without a burner plate. I ordered a silent burner from the Dawg and it works great! On the bottom of the cap it is marked "WB" and ""d.1".
