I purchased this stove because the photo showed a Rotoflame burner with a pre-heater tube, which would allow inverted canister operation. Unfortunately, the stove I received does not have a preheater tube. I complained to the seller, and they offered a full refund if I return it. Another ALOCS stove shown here also arrived with no preheater. I test fired the stove, and it is simply VERY BAD!. The flame is yellow, and does not have the wind resistance of other rotoflame burners. The pot rests are too low, and the pot sits much too close to the burner, resulting in large flames engulfing the pot. In summary - do not buy this stove. As this is the second ALOCS model sold differently than advertised, I would not trust this brand at all. Yonadav
i think with the success China has had selling cheap but useable camp stoves they are getting sloppy and tossing anything out to get foreign currency.
I bought the BRS11 with the Rotoflame burner. The Piezo ignition is very useful. Yonadev reviewed the stove in January 2013. I was motivated enough to buy the genuine article from Amgazit in Israel with the help of the aforementioned Forum Member. If you must have a 'gassie' the BRS11 or a genuine Rotoflame would be an excellent choice. That ALOCS stove looks like something cooked up from a mixed pile of various Chinese stove parts. For the price it is selling at it is a waste of money. The BRS11 is half the price.
Alocs seems to be in the business of selling camp cookware, but has not mastered stove making yet. Thanks for posting the reivew, it is helpful so others don't make the same mistake of ordering this stove expecting something more. There are some well made and useful stoves coming out of China these days, you just have to do your homework and look for reviews. Unfortunately with new models it can be a crapshoot though.
Do you still have the stove? I bought one recently and fired it up and initially I thought I would have the same disappointment (I bought it to examine the burner head myself, it doesn't seem to be a straight Rotoflame style clone) due to the orange-yellow tinge but after 2-3 minutes the flame turned a solid blue even with the glowing red igniter wire protruding into the burner head. It might have been some cutting oils or remnants from the anodization process for the burner head. No preheat is disappointing for sure, but I have found (in my currently very brief few minutes of experimentation) that once the rest of the stove is hot that it barely could pass as being capable of inverted canister operation. I was able to briefly invert the canister (straight butane) to feed little plugs of liquid butane at 2/3 open and it didn't immediately flare. After shutting the stove down and letting it cool for a few minutes I felt some slight warm coming from the base where the tube goes in. Perhaps a little heat shunt could be made out of a piece of copper to allow for liquid feed operation like with Roger Caffin's remote feed stoves: DIY Ultralight Remote Inverted-Canister Winter Stove - Version 4, Part 1 - Backpacking Light Can't remark on the flame pattern yet as I tested mine on a heat exchanger kettle where the flames were "less aggressive" than my Soto Stormbreaker at full power... The output was too but I was using straight butane rather than isobutane mix and my canister was mostly empty so it chilled with reduced output partway into my run. Mine seems to have some kind of matte black plating or paint on the body. Perhaps it is a revised version after 7 years...
