Decided to try and fire her up for the first time today and get some pics. Both caps are keyed into the cast iron basket to keep them from falling out. |imgRemoved| The box reads"1 Burner" Started right up Hope you like the pics
Nice photo essay, and a beautiful stove! Made in the USA! Wow, Not that many kero burners from this era that are US made.
It's in fantastic condition. The directions say that the rod with a loop in the end of it is a cleaning needle? Is it for after the jet has been removed? Fabulous photos, particularly of the silent cap's fitting into the burner. HJ
Thats the jet/nipple cleaner. If you look close you may be able to see the small wire. Thanks for the nice comments. There are a few guys here with the same stove in the Reference Gallery. I want to thank them for showing me their pics
Hi Doug, lovely stove and presentation. The location for the photo-shoot adds so much to the character of this veteran stove. I love the tiling and the play of shadow and direct light...so much better than a light tent in this case. Great work, thanks for sharing. Best Regards, Kerophile.
My first encounter with a US made "classical" kero stove. It's interesting to see that they departed from the original Primus design in a whole bunch of details: a unique silent burner (the 4 slots suggest there must have been a "roarer" flame plate as well), a square nipple, a different priming cup, different tank proportions, non-soldered leg holders, different placement of the vent valve, different style trivet, and perhaps some more that I hadn't noticed. Any idea of its age? Yonadav
Oh, that explains it. Bad eyesight. I love the small brass plate with the stove's name on it. Very classy. The whole affair looks very solid. HJ
Yonadav take a look at this stove of Doc Marks and you will see that it is not all that different: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/7592 As far as its age take a look here: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/12932
Hi Doug a very fine example of a beautifull stove and made to a very high standard and also very unique having a lipstick burner with silent cap on if i am not mistaken a two pint stove you have a real treasure there
Hi Doug: Awesome!! It looks almost N.O.S. box, tools and all. I had to clean the screen and reshape the lipstick burner to get mine working correctly. I see yours has a nipple instead of the lipstick style. Where/how did you find it? Mike was in a local antique store. Mike... P.S. The large Pertomax roar burner plate fits them perfectly.
Ooh crap another American stove i must have. Hummmm what do you suppose is the likelyhood of finding one up here in North Lincolnland. Yeah my thoughts too. lance
