    I have an old (x for 1933) Primus 96 that had no burner bell.

    Using the template and techniques mentioned here I cut out the 2D shape in brass sheet,

    but this time I used a mandrel to create the correct 3D curvature.

    Then brazed the sides, cut the slots

    2021-03-07 001 003.JPG

    and flared the top

    Then I cut and brazed the tapered collar onto the bottom of the bell.

    Cleaned it up and fitted it to the lipstick

    fitted the original burner plate

    and fired it up

    The tapered collar is a good fit on the lipstick and the stove runs well and maintains vaporisation. Another old 96 back in working order.

    @kerophile
    Thanks, and unlike IKEA projects I had no bits left over!

    That’s excellent! The bell seems to be the hardest part to source.

    @Twoberth Great stuff Duncan. Presumably you’d a fair amount of annealing to do during the metal-bashing?

    @Twoberth
    Thank you for another flat pack burner bell design. I used your original design to
    bring my Radius 42 back into use. I had to
    Silver solder a thin check nut on the base to suit the burner. It works a treat, & Thank you again. My Best Regards. Optimust. O:)

    Good work on your Radius 42, and thanks for your comments.
    I am currently making a bell and flame plate for an old Monitor !7B, and will post photos in the Stove forum when finished

    Latest template with parallel sides. Saves a lot of snipping and filing.
