    Hi everyone.

I got this “look and cook” Cadac camping unit to use with my oven . Unfortunately it did not come with a hose, lamp and connections. I was unable to find any connection for it so had to modify it to use a modern Cadac connection. I’ll keep the original parts in case I find the unlikely missing parts.
The age of the stove must be between the two that were posted recently as the knobs are the same as the first and the suitcase handle the same as the second. The blue colour is original and the black in the base of the case looks original too.
It will need a good cleanup and repaint.

A classic ‘gassie’, which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but one I definitely appreciate.

Who’s the manufacturer of the oven? Made in the USA evidently.

    From the instructions ...
    (cooking grid). Great sounding word.

You and the instructions refer to a ‘lamp’ Andrew, but I’m not familiar with the word in a stove context. I should be able to work out what it is, but can’t.

    Hi John. @presscall
The oven does not have a makers name on it . The stove had a two way connection with a control to regulate the gas flow for gas lamp for light or for another gas appliance. Unfortunately I have no idea what the connection looks like.

Hi John @presscall and @Andrew . Interesting to read your reference to
    Kokerroster.

I have a Heinze Geniol NATO cooker as issued to Dutch army. There is a reference on the instruction plate to : KOOKSTOEL. I got a translation of “Cooking seat” from the Internet but didn’t know what this actually meant. I would like to have your advice:

    @kerophile

Would it be the trivet/pot rest?

    Oops! My mistake.
On closer examination the word used on the Dutch Heinze Geniol is “ KOOKTOESTEL”

Which tanslates simply as “Cooker” I understand.

    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

Ah, I see. Literally a ‘lamp’. Clever. Brilliant of the designer to recognise the need to light up what’s cooking.

Biolite came up with a more everyday(night) use for the USB socket than for charging a phone.

Cool looking old gassie that's for sure. I thought the oven might be like one I picked up but slightly different. Maybe same manufacturer though? Says MILCOR embossed into the back. Now I have to bake some cookies next week. Thanks... :)

@kerophile ”kooktoestel” would translate to “cooking set” or more likely “cooking appliance”

    Hi
I found the proverbial hens tooth yesterday.
I was at a secondhand shop and saw the connections and hose for the stove. Luckily I still had the original female stove connection which I refitted to it.
The shop owner said that it had belonged to his father and that he remembered using it with a stove in Rhodesia when he was a child but could not remember what the stove looked like.
The valve on the connection only controls the gas to the lamp which means the stove can be used without the lamp.
The lamp is probably from the same era as the stove but I am not certain of this.

Is it just me or does that look like a street lamp. :-k

Great you found the bits that were missing.

Did you discover who made the oven? The temp. gauge is the only bit with some sort of provenance.

Beautiful! A Petzl head lamp would do the job of cooking after dark as well I suppose but nowhere near so stylishly. Thanks for posting.

    Hi
I found another one of these stoves today this time with the original hose and connection.
The only difference is the lighter blue on the outside of the case, the cream colour on the inside, the clip holder on the inside which was corroded off the other stove and the slight difference in the print and wording of the instructions.
It’s in a better condition than the first one.

    Hi @Braam
    Welcome
Do you collect stoves or looking for one to use.
Unfortunately the stoves are not for sale but I will let you know if I find another one and decide to sell it.

Hi all.... OK So I'm a Johannesburg boy & I've got , and I've just picked up on this.... Actually I might even have 4....

One comes with me all the way from Rudu in 1974,

One is a brand new, 100 % complete with all it's spares and the lot (see pic)
But the third may be of interest... I've stripped it to turn it into a suitcase braai & for spares and got the whole supply / burner ETC.
