    Good Morning, @flivver , and @snwcmpr!!

    Mike and Ken,

I just checked our work schedule, and we will be busy from now, until around the end of June, with no time for a CASG, sorry to say!! However, we only have two gigs in July, one at the beginning, and one at the end of that month. So, there are a few weeks in mid-July that might work for us. Other than that, we won't have time for another events until late November, early December! So, if those dates will work for you, we can begin to plan something during mid-July. Of course, it will not be held in the desert, I'm thinking, because of the heat during that time of year. "Maybe" Mid-Hills, but in truth, I'd like to do one in a different setting this year. We would be open for Montaña De Oro, again, as we like that site quite a bit. Or, we can do something a bit farther East, as we had discussed before, maybe at Lake Tahoe, the Southern Sierra, or other locations thereabouts.

I'll send alerts to our regular CASG family, and see if those dates, and those locations will work for anyone. As Sweet Bride and I will be MORE than ready for some rest and relaxation, we hope we can have a strongly attended event! But, if it turns out small, as did our CASG#7, with only Mac and his lovely wife, and me and Sweet Bride in attendance, we had a fine time, indeed!! So, for all CCS members who are interested in joining us at the next CASG event, which will be, as Flivver posted, #11, please let us know your intentions, and your interest level.

Mike, I hope these scant plans will help ease the tensions you are feeling, from your CASG camping withdrawal!!!! ;)

@Jim Henderson , @bajabum , @hikerduane , @z1ulike , @Rhubarb, @ChefBC, @sa3spd , @Ed Winskill , @idahostoveguy, @StanDahl , and all other CCS members, both in the US, and World-Wide!! Please let me know if you are interested in joining us for CASG #11, in Mid-July, 2018, location to be announced!!! Hope to hear from you all, soon, so we can make our reservations at a great campground, early, and thereby get a great site!! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

Doc, my calendar is clear, I figured you were very busy since you had not started a new CASG. Headed to the bay area in three weeks for a Coleman campout.

I found Montana Del Oro on my map, shorter distance than the Mojave. Wish we could figure out a spot close to Lake Tahoe. Sites get reserved early there. Emerald Bay would be nice, have not camped at one CG for 35 to 40 years. Fallen Leaf Lake maybe, easier to get in. Hiking, biking, close to Desolation Wilderness.

Cool. I talked to my mom a few years ago about going. I was 10 and I wore her boots. My parents brought cast iron cookware. She said even then, 1960's she got looks and comments from other hikers. Mosquitoes found me when I made a natures call. Fresh blood so young and helpless. LOL. We went to the top of Mt Tallac. Fond memory. I see Tallac every time I have gone to Tahoe, and i showed my wife when were were there last spring. We camped at Nevada Beach near Stateline. I took her into Harrah's Stateline Casino. (I lost) I used to see Bill Harrah in Reno when I was a youth.

    Good Morning, Gentlemen, and Ladies,

I talked to Sweet Bride this morning, and she LOVES the idea of holding CASG#11 at Lake Tahoe!! I do, too! We've camped at Emerald Bay before, and love that place. Never been to Fallen Leaf Lake, but if others think that might be easier to score for campsites, that sounds good, too! It would mean about an 8 hour drive for us, but well worth it!! @flivver , Mike, it looks like about a little less than a 10 hour drive for you. I hope you and Mrs. Flivver would find it worthwhile, especially for camping in such a stunningly beautiful location as Lake Tahoe!! Duane has made super long drives several times to join us down in the desert, and so have others who have attended our CASG events. So, SB and I think it's more than fair to make the drive to Lake Tahoe, and thereby offer others who have made long drives for past events, a chance at a much shorter drive for this one. Sound good?

I think that we will need to figure out how many sites we will need, and all that will depend upon how many folks actually show up for the event. In the past, I've sprung for the whole package, and was paid back. But, a couple of times, when people promised to show, and could not, SB and I were stuck with having to eat the loss on that. I believe that Gary (BD) also had to deal with that, quite a few years ago, up at Diamond Lake, OR. So, I guess it's best to leave getting campsites up to each person, or group of people, once we know, as close as possible, who will be attending. For our group down this way, that might be fairly easy. Let's see how attendance numbers pan out, and we can go from there. If we can get a Group Camp, that might solve our problems, at least to some extent.

So, to start the ball rolling, Sweet Bride and I are in!! We will plan on getting a site, at either Emerald Bay, or Fallen Leaf Lake, and reserving it as soon as possible. The longer we wait, the harder it's going to be to get some good sites. More later, as firm dates, and campsite plans begin to gel. SB and I are really looking forward to this event!!! Hope to see you all there! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

P.S. @hikin_jim , Jim, I dropped the ball and did not send this to you, and so am tagging you, now. I'm sure there are others whom I missed, as well, so please, anyone who is interested in enjoying a CASG at Lake Tahoe, give me a shout, either here, or via a PT. Thanks, and Jim, sorry to have missed you first time around!

P.P.S. Just give a peek at the 10 CASG events we've held so far, and out of the 10, 7 of them have been held either at Joshua Tree National Park, or Mid Hill Campground, both very easily accessed by our S. CA. and AZ members!! So, it's definitely time for a move to new locations, now and then. Lake Tahoe!!!! YAY!!!

    Ken, and All,

OK, I just checked the link you sent, and it seems there are NO sites left for Fallen Leaf CG! We're checking Emerald Bay, right now, but the info given is convoluted, and hard to understand. There are sites available, but nothing close together. Lots of ADA sites, but we don't qualify for those. We found a place called Hope Valley Campground, and they have four sites we could book, only. Two are fairly close, and one a bit farther, with one being across the CG. It's on a river, and not Lake Tahoe. Hummmmm.... Not sure LT is going to work for us, but we're still checking. Ken, and Duane, have either of you camped at Hope Valley CG? If so, can you offer any evaluations? Might have to change locations, if nothing can come to hand. We "could" buy a couple of the sites in Hope Valley and it does have good reviews. But, so far, I would hate to pick one for us, and then have none left for others, if they don't decide to go for it very, very soon!!

If any of you have any other suggestions, for alternate sites we could enjoy, please share them ASAP. Being in CA, and since the advent of internet reservations, if you don't book 6+ months out, you are not going to have many choices. Talk soon and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Doc

    Hi, Ken,

Just checked, using the dates that would work for us, July 11-16, and "no sites available" for those dates. Looking bleak for Lake Tahoe, even this far in advance. Check out Hope Valley CG, and see what you think, Thanks, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Mark
