This is my 443 stove and it along with a couple of 426’s have served as the cook tops and oven burners for many a scout camp.
The 442/442A and 443 stoves were produced from 1962-64, according to the “Guide to Vintage Coleman Products” book. Apparently, many of these did not have date codes stamped. Per the book, for the 442A, “Beginning in late 1963, the fuel tank tabs have a three-digit date code stamped on the underside. Jan-Sept are represented by the numbers 1-9, Oct - Dec by letters ‘O’, ‘N’ & ‘D’; the year is two-digit: ‘63’.” The book says nothing about date stamps on the 443. These aluminum-cased stoves are really nice. ….Arch
@ArchMc , yes sir you are correct, Coleman didn’t start dating any of their stoves till 63, and they are all on the underside of the tank tabs. The difference between the 442 and 442A is the actual case finish, more so than anything else. The 442, and the 443 have a grid finish on the skin the case, while the 442A has a smooth finish.
