Hello fellow stove guys. Here is my Coleman 502 made in September of 1962. Stamped 9/62 The 502 was Coleman's third try at making a small camp stove. The 501 then the 501A and the 502. The 502 served Coleman from 1962 until the early 80's IIRC. A great stove but may not win any beauty contests. My 502 has signs of being a 501A or 501. The label is covering a 501 label. The control valve is a modified 501A valve. Coleman wasted nothing if they could. From left to right. Coleman 501, Coleman 501A, Coleman 502. The Coleman 502 mixing chamber next to the larger mixing chamber of the Canadian Coleman 500. The 500 is made of cast iron and the 502 is stamped steel. Guess which one will last longer.
You're right, but it seems nobody told this to the 502's out there. They make the Energizer bunny look like a loser. Murph
Do a search of Coleman 502 on ebay and you will find that this stove is probably the most common stove being sold right now. I owned 3 of them but used one for parts and now have 2 502's that run just fine. One is 40+ years old, the other is 30+ years old.
