This is one of the earlier cases. The first cases made were the clamshell style (such as you have) later they went to the tall bottom and thin stainless steel top with the closures at the ends. The closures were also handles for the case.

    Hello,
Have you tried to cook with this stove ?? I am wondering if the flame control is like the M1951.

    Hello Chuck,

I used the stove on a trip to the Ardenne in Begium. I've got one remark. To turn the flame lower I used the cleaning handle. Look out it can become very hot, a M1951 is better to handle.

How can I find the year it's been build on this stove or otherwise.

Milco the year should be on the tank but it's not always there. Often they were not marked in any way except with the model number.

I have one of this Coleman 523 stoves with a steel case.

The case is medium blue re-painted. And no painted inside.

Does anybody knows the original color of the case?

(a Pantone, RAL or other index color reference)
