I have owned my Peak 1 400 for over 20 years, and have recently encountered very short run times (2-3 minutes) on high flame before I have to repump the stove to get the flame back to full strength.

I suspect I have a leak somewhere; but the odd thing is when I store it pressurized, the stove still hold pressure months after storage.

Any ideas on why the stove has a short run time?

    Thank you!

Then it wouldn't hold pressure when stored. I wonder if the valve is leaking, or one of the fittings. I would think that would catch fire, though, as all that stuff is pretty close to the flame. You could check it with a flame, but do it outside with fire suppression (like a big can) handy.

Could also be an issue with the fuel/air tube. Might be letting the air all out through the generator.

I think I’d take the burner frame off and reattached the generator with the nipple plugged with wax to dunk test it for bubbles. If it does not leak externally, then you’ll have to remove the valve and fix the F/A tube.

If this is one of the brown Coleman 400s I would also agree that the likely cause is the hole at the top of the Fuel/Air tube is not closing properly. There is an excellent tutorial on CCF on stripping these down and rebuilding them.

That is indeed the problem - now to get the valve off!
