Following on from previous posts, this spirit can was made using an elliptical template to cut a die and punch from aluminium sheet. The die and punch were cut from separate pieces of aluminium using a jeweller's saw. They were finished with a file and 'trial and error', to make sure there was a small gap around the 'fit' - slack enough to prevent the tin plate from tearing but tight enough to give a good profile flange.

After pressing the side was wrapped around the formed ends and clamped in place before soldering.

As with everything, practice results in improvement and my soldering is slowly getting better. I am please with this result.

    Thanks Arch.
If you size it correctly it fits into the corner of a storage tin, but holds more liquid than a round one. A sort of halfway size between round and custom four sided tins.
