This stove is the size of an Optimus 45 type. This one has 'MADE IN BRITISH EMPIRE OF HONG KONG' stamped on the base.

Are the makers Ever New a Japanese company?

    Hello Ross.

EVERNEW Ltd. is a company that has treated the school physical education, outdoor, fitness, and the winter sports articles of Japan.
    http://www.evernew.co.jp/

It is guessed that EVERNEW Ltd. was made to make it requesting it to the stove producing company in Hong Kong.
The inspection certificate of Manufacturing Department that exists in EVERNEW Ltd is attached to the stove.
    *********************************************
The content of the inspection certificate

This product does all goods combustion inspection.
The discoloration of the burner head and fragrant of the fuel in the tank are results for this. Please bring it to the shop when there is a thing that doesn't understand.
    ***********************************************
The name of two people of Mr. SIMIZU and Mr. HASIMOTO of the inspection personnel of Manufacturing Department is written.

    Best regards,
    Motoshi

From their website it looks like they also made/make Phoebus 625 & 725 clones.

    Hello John.

    EVERNEW Ltd doesn't make Phoebus 625 & 725 clones.
Genuine Phoebus 625 & 725 was imported from Austria and sold.

The HOPE Co. and the SAKAESEIKI Co. made Phoebus 625 clone making.
Moreover, after it broke off the production of Phoebus of Austria, the SAKAESEIKI Co. bought the patent of Phoebus 625 and made clone.
The tank of Phoebus 625 clone of SAKAESEIKI is made of not iron but the stainless steel.

    Best regards,
    Motoshi

Motoshi - many thanks for the further information on Evernew, Hope & Sakaeseiki. Interesting that Evernew were still selling Phoebus as late as 1991.

The page translated to English via Babel Fish is here

However the translator turns Phoebus into hoebusu!

    You're welcome Ross.

Evernew sold Phoebus until 1991 because of being as a stock.
Phoebus collectors in Japan bought a lot of parts hearing that Phoebus became sales discontinuance at that time.

    Best regards,
    Motoshi
