    Hello Everybody,
    I'm Boris, from France and new on the forum.
    I get myself in the Classic Stove World by accident, via an Optimus 111B found at a flea market. I fettled it quite nicely but, of course, now i want more...

    I just bought an old Primus 71 from 1951.
    About this Primus, I already dissassembled it and i wonder if there's a hole (even a tiny one as in a carburetor) in the Vapourising Tube P4060 going from the wick to the jet ? From what i see there's none and as I can't light it, that could be my issue!

    Thanks everyone for your help

    Welcome to CCS @Boris Gastaldi

    Yes,there should be a in hole in part 4060 running from top to bottom.

    This might help, it's a different stove but basically the same construction. Svea 123 Disassembly

    Sounds like there is a blockage, possibly in the valve section.
    It could be old fuel. Try soaking the part in lacquer thinners or acetone overnight, then blowing through with compressed air or an aerosol like carburetor cleaner.

    The hole doesn't run straight from top to bottom, the valve shuts it off,.
    So are you trying to blow through it? With valve open?

    And I am sure you have inspected or removed jet?

    Thanks a lot for the dissassembly.
    I'll soak it in Acetone tonight

    @Majicwrench
    Yes, everything is in part.

    I've had to run a stiff wire up to dislodge debris.

    @Boris Gastaldi welcome.
    re your "...i wonder if there's a hole (even a tiny one as in a carburetor) in the Vapourising Tube P4060 going from the wick to the jet ? From what i see there's none.."

    There is fuel passage from wick to jet (obviously) but there is not a straight hole from top to bottom, exactly as majicwrench has said.
    Boris, Re your inquiry I have provided a detailed reference of same vaporizer as yours, one that is not clogged, seen here. Happy to do it.

    Oh yeah, you mentioned, is there even a tiny hole...
    that reminds me, my diagram in link does not show it but
    FYI the passage that goes from the bottom up to the valve, that does reduce/narrow near the top. IMO that is the narrowest section of the fuel passage from wick to jet.
    -------------------

    I can recall years ago having difficulty posting decent images.
    If that applies to you then no worries.
    Without image(s), I'm curious if yours is a 1/3 pint or 1/2 pint?

    If posting images is easy for you, the most effective method to request assistance is to provide current images of your stove or part(s) in question.

    PS It's fine (no report etc.) and sorry for asking in advance but I am also curious, as non-subscriber, where did you source the Primus 71 catalog page?
    A follow-up, if the source is a complete catalog outside CCS (link?), is it a dated catalog, it's possibly a catalog year we've not seen on CCS.
    That said, odds are at some point the page was copied off this site : (.
    I shared a sad face [ : ( ] that is the extent of my concern, so no worries. Thank you for posting.
