Has anyone tried replacing the asbestos wick in a Primus 535 spirit tube? I have found 6mm wick for sale on Ebay and thought I may give it a try.
I only have one asbestos wick among 2 stoves and it definitely makes lighting the burner easy so I would like to give all burners the same treatment.

Thanks Crazy Crab. I am wondering do you pre soak it or does the fibreglass wick up on its own?
The operation of the original asbestos wick is impressive, I am looking to emulate that function.
I have thought of encasing the fibreglass rope in a brass tube to ensure it wicks rather than just
    burning off during the preheat.
The 1/4" 6mm rope is easy to come by, 7mm brass tube is not so easy to purchase, most sources
that I have found so far are offering a selection of sizes rather than only the size that I want.
In NZ dollars with taxes and then shipping costs, getting anything to this part of the world is a costly
procedure. Purchases are made with a little more care.

Thanks @kerophile for the resource, I do not know what I do wrong in my searches that all
does not appear to me as it does to others.

I will order some rope and have a play.
