I was at an antique fair today when I spotted a Primus 210 in its usual red tin. I was looking at this when my friend picked up a blue tin beside it and said “here’s another one for you!”
Looking at the box I spotted the compact outfit label on the lid and thought this looks more interesting. Opening the box I found a stove jammed in so tight against an oversized paraffin tin I could get neither out. It was filthy and the riser had been pushed down deforming the tank, It was another 210 which I can use for spares and keep the tin for a better stove?
I did the deal for six squid and walked away.

On closer inspection on arrival back at home I managed to separate tin and stove gave the tank a rub with a wet finger and saw the No. 230, looking on the base, no date code, bleed valve was unusual to my eye so I thought it was a home spun mod. But no, looking in the SRG Ifound I have a probable pre 1911 230 with windshield prickers and tin!

    What a stoke of luck!
It needs some untidy soldering tidied up and washers etc. And the riser needs pulling back into position out of the tank but it should be a nice addition to the collection and one of my earliest stoves!

    Great find!

I’m looking forward to it being cleaned up and running.

Were the squid fresh or canned?
