“Friend” is just one of its many appearances. There is a reserve nipple on the regulating key/spanner.
Have anyone found out where these low quality stoves are made?

I was expecting a coil burner.
Is this a later modified version of the 'Stesco' type stove?

Trevor, I have looked at the others here several times and not even noticed that they are coil-burners! Just proves the old truth that one sees what one expect to see. All the time I assumed that they were just like mine, apart from the can.

I have just got my hands on one of these: it is made in Japan.

hi all, A Friend in tin, an exact match to the OP (of 7 yrs ago), recently sold: complete example in EUC (Excellent Used Condition) [congrats btw, if buyer is a reader].
I'll add an image of it's pricker and the tank bottom (i'm wondering if Friend's brass is unmarked). If unmarked, I'm not questioning this Japan origin, on the contrary, Japan is a source of many unmarked items I'm aware of. thx omc

TMI: story "behind" a mass production of unmarked hard goods finds a variety of names, containers, packaging/boxes of the SAME ITEM. That said, i know of no such example re the Friend... this same stove packaged differently (anyone know of regulated burner twin sister?)?
