    Hello,

recently, while enjoying some photos of a great collection of a friend from The Netherlands, I noticed a stove that I didn’t recognize and that doesn’t happen very often. Fortunately we agreed for a good trade that made both of us happy.

The stove is what seems to be known as Geniol Pantry, probably a marine stove, with a very nice enameled finish and a pretty clean design.

The stove is equipped with two regulated burners and two pre heating torches.

The torches are the same used on the Geniol Army stove and as well on Geniol pressure lamps. The trigger is connected to the knobs, so by pulling the knobs the torches are activated. Two side windshields, connected to the pan supports, protect the stove enameling from the powerful flame that they generate.

The very solid central tank is made of heavy steel and it is the only magnetic part of the stove.

This seems to be a quite rare model. I have been able to find only two more examples: a red one that belongs to a Chinese collector and a dark grey black one belonging to a German collector.

My example clearly is olive green, so at the moment we know that this stove was delivered in at least 3 colors.

After dismantling and cleaning the stove it worked just well. I still have to obtain a nicer blue flame, at the moment the burners burn a little rich, especially the right one. I think that a new set of jets will be needed, so the fettle is not complete.

    For now, here it is:

@gieorgijewski yes. For me, this could be from the 80s, probably made in Portugal.

@gieorgijewski that one on Ricardo.ch was sold and it’s the one that went to China… the photo I posted is given from a Chinese collector.

Or is what I understood. Otherwise this is the 4th example known, the second red.

Given the pot holders, definitely a marine stove. I would assume some will be found in older boats, and the rest will have been thrown out and replaced with propane.

In Australia you find older marine stoves are sold through boat (and fittings) websites. If this is true elsewhere, there may be a surprisingly large number of these. Eg we do not have many Australian marine alcohol stoves here on CCS, but they are easy to find on boat websites.

@Scrambler thanks for your comment, you are probably right. Clearly, the same theory is valid for Optimus 155 stoves and similar, but evidently they appear in a very large number in the collecting world anyway. For this reason I consider this model rarer than 155, also considering the very few information available about it.

    Cheers,

    Nicola
