I have just acquired a French Cobra stove in complete condition with original flame spreaders and like Presscall I had difficulty in lighting it. I eventually used a Tilley preheater and it worked perfectly from simmer to full boil heat.

Good looking stove. Please can you confirm that you are operating it with kerosene/ paraffin fuel?

    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

Hi @plumberted Like you I too use kerosene heating oil for my stoves.

The reason I asked the question about your Cobra was because you never mentioned the fuel type, and I know that unlike the UK the French did make a number of petrol/ gasoline fuelled domestic stoves.
    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

@plumberted Lovely example Ted. Along with slotted burner caps French manufacturers appeared to favour enamelled stove frames and lighting torches.

Very nice stove, but flame spreader is not original !
This one on your stove is "Pinchard et Moreau, or Gaz bleu pétrole", french manufacturer
