Hello, We are stripping down an old Coleman stove, believed to be a 424. One of the glands was assembled with graphite packing. Is PTFE tape a suitable alternative? Thoughts welcome! Many thanks!
I have used heat resistant 'plumbers teflon tape' for valves (yellow color) and it works just fine for short term repairs. For a long term solution, I have been using an 'adhesive' graphite tape that I found on Amazon, and it has worked fine and is much easier to apply than non-adhesive graphite tape which kind of falls apart when I try to get it wound around the valve.
Working with graphite tape is tricky, really tough for small shafts like on a Coleman lantern pricker lever. Duane
