Courtesy of Arne Aasgaard This nice old Hovik has no model number on the tank but is probably a variant of the No:42. The Høvik Verk factory was just outside Oslo & Christainia Glasmagasin is a long established department store in Oslo specializing in glasswear, ceramics & kitchen wear. I would imagine this was sold in that store in the first quarter of the 20th century - the box is typical of that used by many manufacturers in that period.
I have been looking at this Høvik for some time and I could not figure it out where it belong within the Høvik Primus. Today I saw this on Ebay and I do believe that this one is not a variant of HV 42, but a licensed Primus 230 made by Høvik Verk.
@trebor I don't think so. There are two main reasons for this: It is marked "Standard", had it been a licenced Primus it would have that designation The box is marked "Christiania Glassmagasin". The production of these terminated long before the Primus licence production time. (As it says in the original post) But, Høvik may have made a modell very similar to the 230 and introduced it as a "Standard" variant.
I finally got one. Its not a 42, but it is very Primus 230ish. Maybe it is a HV no.30 or 32,33,34,35. Who knows what number it is. If we could find catalog L from Høvik Verk/Christiania Glasmagasin 1927 we can get the right number for various HV models.
@trebor I see in your tread that you mensioned Katalog L from 1927. Since there have been years since your last answer to @janders, let me ask if you have found the katalog L for 1927. I should really like to have a look inside it to! Just got an Standard 23 on my bench
