i need an alternative for Kerosene for my stove
Ahmed, is this for Egypt? And particularly, what stove?
Do you not have kerosene? The Bushwalking NSW global list has "al-kayruseen, zayt al-barafeen, zayt al-kaaz" as equivalents.
International fuel names for backpacking stoves
A quick google suggests Egypt is a significant producer of kerosene.
Depending on the stove, other non-volatile mineral oils might be suitable.
Jet-A1 aircraft (jet) fuel is kerosene. I use it in my stoves and lamps.
Hello Ahmed. I run all my kerosene stoves on charcoal lighting fluid (for barbeques) . Its cheap and available in supermarkets .
yes Egypt, Primus stove
Right Egypt is a significant producer of kerosene but for B2B purpose only, so i can't buy kerosene as a consumer
@Tony Press Good Idea, Thank you
unfortunately, not available in Egypt
A member @Ben Hall has posted pictures of his kerosene stove running on diesel fuel
No charcoal grill lighter fluid available in Egypt? That's a shame.
Time to start looking at what are called CAS numbers. There are possibly some products in your country available for automotive parts shops or possibly woodworking, solvent tank parts cleaners i.e. "Odorless mineral spirits" and the like. You might be able to find something that is almost identical to kerosene in every respect, except by name.
@Fettler i found Turpentine, but i do not know it considered as an alt for Kerosene or not
but i am still searching according to your advises
thank you all
Many products sold as turpentine, and much diesel, will not be a proper equivalent of kerosene. They might work, but are likely to produce carbon and other by-products that will clog jets and burners.
Jet fuel is made to a global standard. That is where I would go first.
This is what is in grill charcoal lighting fluid:
What do people burn i lamps in Egypt ?
Jet A does not have the deicing agent Jet A1 has.
So, if you can get that, all good.
