I started collecting S Korean stoves because I was curious as to how they had made a conventional burner into a dual function roarer and silent stove.

I imagined all sorts of complicated arrangements such as screwing different tops to the burner. The arrangement is simple. The silent parts clip into position on the top of the burner. These are easily removed and the roarer fitting simply drops into place.

S Korean stoves are often overlooked which is a pity as they have plenty of innovations on them such as preheaters and usually come with much more robust cases than the Swedish stoves.

A S Korean collector and myself were in a daft situation. He bought small British and Swedish stoves from me through ebay. I bought S Korean stoves from him through ebay. In the end I suggested that we cut ebay out and simply swopped and it worked very well as each of us knew our way around our own markets so could buy reasonably cheaply so our swops did not cost much

The stoves also tended to come with funnels which was unusual for Swedish stoves

    Bryan,

Thanks for the post. I had seen a Lion stove on eBay but passed it by, not knowing it's reputation.

This looks a lot like the Korean stove I have.

I'd almost say they are made by the same manufacturer.

i have to agree, that this is a very nice stove, with the roarer and silent in 1. The tin it came in is, indeed, very robust.

    gr,

    Arjan.
