    The conical vessel would be the spirit tin?
    Elegant classic in great shape.

    Yes that's the spirit tin...however the burner is not sealed so you have to wash the cup before you can use it! I suspect that it would have come in a leather case originally.

    Use Everclear for your spirit, and you won't contaminate the cup. Everclear is 190 proof neutral grain spirit. You can do as the Trangia people do, and seal the burner in a plastic bag. A 1 quart freezer bag would fit.

    @SveaSizzler Everclear is not available over here I'm afraid. Poly bags are my friends for storing burners pots etc inside each other.

    Poteen will work in a pinch then. Just be sure it's a high enough proof, and then filter it well.
