Hello everyone. I have a Manaslu kerosene pressure stove that has served me very well over the years. Recently it's been giving me some grief and I will describe this: Over the last little while, my stove has been having starting issues. I thought it was the burner but the symptoms are the same when I've changed it. I'm experiencing what can be described as a "chugging and gurgling" sound, followed by a flare up. It sounds like a fuel pick up issue but the problem persists whether the tank is full or low. I find myself having to preheat the burner head twice in order to avoid problems. I've tried 3 different controllable silent burners with no change in the situation. I've flushed everything, blown out the tank with compressed air from both ends, cleaned and checked the burners for carbon buildup. Everything is fine. No loss of pressure with the pump either. Racking my brains! Any insight or advice would be enormously appreciated. Thanks.
Have you changed kerosene? Is it possible you have a heavier grade of kerosene than you used to? Tony Edit: Welcome, Victor. @Victor Tymoshuk
Thanks for such a quick response. I've been using the same triple filtered kerosene as always. It's always burned very clean.
Victor Have you put a wire down the pickup tube? Also, if you can see inside the tank through the filler boss, is the pickup tube sitting slightly above the stove base, and is it still soldered tight? Tony
