Hello, not the best looking range stove, but weird enough to attract me. Micalet Patentat, most probably Spanish, kerosene coil burner with integrated flame plate. Not super powerful, a little subject to air turbulence, but working ok. Stove arrived with clogged coil and pump tube desoldered. I didn’t want to polish it because I think it’s battered enough to look better with its patina, so I tried a fast soldering for the pump with minimal flux to avoid to ruin the patina, fortunately everything went fine. Here the photos: Nicola
Hi @Nicola Francesco Elia The structure of the burner is very simple and unique! The first flame is like It looks like a mysterious nebula in the galaxy... It creates a strange atmosphere... whoever saw it will never forget such a flame.
@multi-cho Hi, thanks for your comment. When I saw the photo of the flame I had your same thought about something cosmic related, beautiful.
Hi @Nicola Francesco Elia What a nice stove! Let me explain two ideas. 1. "Micalet" is the name of a bell tower in Valencia (Spain). Almost certainly, this stove was made there. 2. "Patentat", that means "Patented" in catalan language, talked in Valencia region too, suggest me this stove was made before Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). Because Franco fascist goverment forbidden catalan language.
@pau-i-amor Hi, thanks a lot for sharing these informations! Your suggestions make a lot of sense and for sure this stove can be pre 1936. I made some researches during the last days but I didn’t find anything, so any idea is really appreciated. Thanks, Nicola
The old kingdom of Aragon is nowadays four regions: Valencia, Mallorca (Balearic islands), Catalonia and Aragon. Except Aragon, people use catalan language in those regions. Micalet is a Valencian stove.
@Nicola Francesco Elia This will get my vote if you enter it in the "Stove of the Month" contest. Ben
@z1ulike Ahah thanks Ben, so let’s wait the competition for the best Valencian stove I appreciate, Thanks!
