Has anyone made this kind of stove from scratch?

Argh! Wonderful work Sir. A venerable old stove lives again.

Just a slight addendum to this as I have had a chance to try and find the stove on the Lixada site without any luck.

While doing the search something that struck me is there is a single feed tube to the burner.

This is speculation, but as a general design principle a single tube on an upper tank is adequate for fuel supply?

I haven't had time to check but I think earlier 38's had a single feed tube which was changed to the twin tube in later models. Was that due to a single tube not being efficient enough with the low slung tank?

A single vapourising tube has been the norm for a long time and on a variety of stoves of that type, including Turms.

Why the dual tube Turm variant? Bit of an oddity. The maximum burner output isn't determined by the number of tubes but by the metering/venturi effect on the vapourised fuel by the burner jet.

It was received yesterday, and the wife wrapped it up before I got home. Birthday present!
I shall be opening it on the 28th of October.
"Surely I need to check it incase it's faulty?!"
    "No chance!"

I'm going to try out bioethanol for the first time. It's used for indoor fires, so I imagine it will be ok to use it in the stove indoors?

@presscall says "Turm 38 is not fuel tight when on the move (fuel would leak out of the air vent in the fuel filler cap)".
Not really. The Turm 38 was originally sold with two filler caps. One for transport and one with an air vent for cooking. The cap for transport is often lost and it is very difficult to find. I am posting a pic of my Turm 38, which came with the two caps. The cap for transport has a text in German explaining that it cannot placed on the tank when firing the stove and that it should used only for transporting the stove when filled with alcohol in the tank. Thanks for pointing that out, I didn’t know a ‘keeper cap’ was supplied. I’ve learned something. Great find to have that rare survivor as you say.
