Bought this off eBay recently - nowhere near £8 as another recent example! Looking forward to give it a try out at the weekend. Any info on the dates on these sets? The listing gave anywhere between WW2 and 1960. I'm guessing closer to 1960.

Hi @Paraffinhead Nicely presented Monitor High Speed outfit. It can be seen in the 1939 and 1948 Monitor catalogues. It would not have been produced in the war years of WW2.

Is there a slit in the collar of the burner bell, where it fits onto the “lipstick” vaporiser? This feature, intended to stop the burner bell seizing onto the lipstick, was patented and introduced around 1950, and indicates a “later” example.

Your No.96-size outfit is in great condition and it would be good to see photos of it operating.
    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

No slit, and I'll fire it up sometime soon, pics will follow. I'm surprised at the age of this set, it must have been well looked after.
