Stop buying stoves I told myself last year ......... then with all this MSR stuff going on I bit again thanks to hikin jim and his bloody adventures in stoveing I love this gas stove because I can do this with it It will be easy to cook with when you have control like this Standing nex to the Wisperlite. Came with it's bag ,instructions, reflector,spanner tool ,jet pricker,and windshield. Great stove that I'm looking to use this summer.
Nice stove, Tim. Interesting to see that size of Coleman canister. They don't sell that size (that I've ever seen) in the US. Is it 450g? I do rather like the RapidFire. I've even got four of the old 6oz/170g canisters for mine. HJ
Yes it is Jim. It's nice easy stove to use and with turning the canister over is great for cold weather stuff. Be sure to post a trip report after your trip Tim. Between HJ pawning stoves off on me and Sam posting great comments on stoves, they are keeping me hopping acquiring stoves. I've only used my Rapidfire once, so many of these canisters stoves to run, so little time off to use them properly. My short list of stoves to get was down to a couple, back up to 3 or 4 at the moment, but they will be hard to find. I'm filling in the spaces with cheaper MSR stoves when they come up to fill in my MSR collection. Duane
Tim, 148g for that adapter? Ouch. More than many gas burner, and that's just an adapter. I've talked to several people in just such a situation. There don't appear to be any lighter weight puncture-to-threaded adapters. At least with the adapter one has the advantage of being able to detach the stove, therefore there is no valve that can be somehow turned by accident inside one's pack. The only other option I can think of is to find a lightweight puncture type stove. I've thought of the GT-106 of course (with modified bales). Any better options out there I wonder? HJ
With a butane/propane converter you can prop up a 1 1b. propane bottle and hook it up to run propane on this for a car camping stove.
