My 99 was also NOS, but I desided to use it.

What a great find and a great stove. I got mine new in 76 and used it while traveling through europe. Did a lot of car camping and cooked for 2.
What is scratched into the heat shield, looks like some numbers?

Yep, have three and all used.
Now if I should find a NOS 199 than maybe I would keep in a virgin condition.
But the change of finding a 199 in these parts are very small. [-(

    From Rick b:

To me they look like someone's Social Security Number.

Flip a coin on firing it up!

Very nice Optimus 99. I very much like the look of unfired brass on that burner. Once fired, it is gone forever.

Did it come with the original box? What interests me would be the price tag, if any.
