Got this beauty off ebay she looks to be unfired. here are some pics from the seller.
Now the big decision - do you fire it?
i consider myself more of an enthusiast so I might fire her.
That's what I'd do.
My 99 was also NOS, but I desided to use it.
same with a NOS svea 123 I got for my birthday.
Nice stove. Get a 199 next. you will love it.
What a great find and a great stove. I got mine new in 76 and used it while traveling through europe. Did a lot of car camping and cooked for 2.
What is scratched into the heat shield, looks like some numbers?
Yep, have three and all used.
Now if I should find a NOS 199 than maybe I would keep in a virgin condition.
But the change of finding a 199 in these parts are very small.
From Rick b:
To me they look like someone's Social Security Number.
@rick gerry seems right they do look like someone's social security number. regarding the 199 I only see them in pictures
Flip a coin on firing it up!
Very nice Optimus 99. I very much like the look of unfired brass on that burner. Once fired, it is gone forever.
Did it come with the original box? What interests me would be the price tag, if any.
Hi there sam! yes I too have my second thoughts whether to fire her up. got it for $100 US I guess the price was just right, unfortunately the box is missing.
