    Hello!

I've got an Optimus 111 that is exhibiting this 'pulsing' behaviour in the flame: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/DGxErJGX7Dw

    Is this normal?

    When I got it I:

    1. Replaced the cap seal with a Viton one. Left the cap pressure pip in place as it seemed ok, and it was slighty bigger than the pips I have (4.5mm)
    2. Replaced the NRV seal with a new HDPE one.
    3. Replaced the NRV pip with a new Viton one.
    4. Replaced the old ratty pump leather with a new one, generously lubricated with mineral oil.

As a result it now holds pressure nicely after a 10 pumps or so; I can unscrew the tank cap and hear the pressure hissing out.

I wonder if I need to further disassemble the stove to clear up burner and its mesh.

My first thoughts (no expert here), was stove up to temperature? And, is there anything in the fuel? Did you clean the tank with anything?

Cleaning the burner and screen and making sure wick is in good shape always a good idea.

    Let us know....

    Thanks for your replies!

    1. The stove was not up to temperature, that was at the beginning; after a couple of minutes it stabilizes and gets a steady flame.
    2. Fuel was Bartoline paraffin, I used a primus funnel with an incorporated strainer as well, and didn't see anything strange, it was clear and nor residues were left in the strainer.
    3. To clean the tank, I added a bit of paraffin, swished it around, and dumped it; some small black flakes came out. I repeated the process about 4-5 times until no stuff came out.

If it seems to stabilize after a while, I may leave it alone, and try to clean if gets worse. Don't want to disassemble stuff and make things worse.

Hi, these primer wicks are worth a try. They give a more efficient burn of the priming alcohol and higher temperature of the burner:
    Making up some spirit-cup wicks.

    Best Regards,
