    First fire-up after repair.

I bought this Optimus 111 stove from a second-hand shop for 40 Dkr (€5,50) a few weeks ago.

The stove was in a miserable condition. The tank lid leaked, the flame was low, the cleaning needle didn't work, and it had small flames coming out of the stuffing box.

I took the regulator apart and saw that the cogs were dented, the tip and the thread were badly worn, and the graphite gasket was falling apart. No wonder it didn't burn properly.

I ordered a spare parts kit from http://hytta.de/kocher/Ersatzteilset-Optimus-Hiker-111,794.htm. It contained everything I needed to replace the worn-out parts, complete with a detailed step-by-step instruction leaflet.

It took me 15 minutes to fit the new parts and fire up the stove. It runs absolutely perfectly now, and I look forward to use it for outdoor cooking one of these days.

Here are a some pictures from the repair process:

(The O-ring is not used on this model. It fits a newer type of pump insted of the leather cup.)

Note that the new metal ring and lock nut have a slightly different shape.

Agreed. They help to reflect heat back up to the pot too.

Yes, the 111 will breed in the dark.
