I have just purchased an Optimus 111 (4 leg burner) and found the needle wasn't coming out through the jet, in fact it couldn't be seen after removing the jet. I removed the spindle and shook out the needle. The teeth on th needle are perpendicular to the needle as seen for sale by Fettlebox. however the spindle drive gear for the needle are not in line with the shaft, they are at an angle of about 30 degrees. looking at the gearing on the ones for sale, these are not angled - only noticed this after ordering a replacement 111B one as the 111 is no longer available. Is it possible I have ordered the wrong one ? the teeth are mashed on my spindle, I will upload photos this evening if that makes it clearer. I have serched for pictures of the spindle on this site, but not found yet. Cheers Marc

One picture shows undamaged gearing , the other , damaged teeth. Note the undamaged teeth are at an angle. Hope that makes sense. Not sure if the replacement will fit ( ordered from lamps and stoves on eBay) IMG_20191021_183048.jpg IMG_20191021_183019.jpg

@kerophile that is the parts I have ordered, but note the straight cut teeth on the spindle compared to my picture

On the back of that does anyone think a 'Rogues Gallery' may be useful for common damage and repair?

That's a bad spindle, but there are other common problems that could be pinned in a handy spot, and may help visitors.

    Just a thought?

Thank you kerophile the first picture on the opposite side has no damage at all - you can see the markings on it where it was machined, so definitely at an angle. has anyone else got pictures of their original spindles for an Optimus 111 ?

    Hi and welcome
    It doesn't look like original
Top pic come from a 1961 111 and the bottom one is a new replacement for the 111 and 111b
