Bought this for Andrew a.k.a ajardine last week and it will be in the postal service sometime soon. Brand new, never fired Optimus 45.

Hi Ron and Andrew, Very nice gimballed stove outfit.

One of the last Op.45 produced I reckon. The silent cap is marked Optimus/Primus. which indicates post 1962 and the formation of the Primus Trading Co.

The air screw is on the side of the filler upstand, which indicates post 1962 (where the catalogue shows the air screw on the top of the filler cap) and perhaps around 1972, where the catalogue show this side fitting.

    Best Regards,
    Kerophile.

A hearty thanks to RonPH - without him I could never have acquired this stove!

A date of 1972 would be perfect. The stove is going into a Twin Keel Tylercraft 24 sailboat that purports to be a '74, but may be slightly earlier (no numbers on the boat to clarify, but the British Seagull outboard that came with it I verified as being built in '71)

Tylercraft brochure listed options including "Sea Swing Stove, gimballed in all directions". I can see where one had been mounted, but it was long gone when I got the boat.

Hardest part will be fixing up the boat so it is worthy of the stove!

George, thanks for the informative data. Glad to help out one of the members plus I get a good look at the gimbal set up which is pretty unique. Its light and compact as I now realize. Without having to hold it, I always thought it to be a heavy set up  The shopowner says he does have other stoves in his warehouse so I will be looking forward him bringing another interesting stove to display. A bit of a grouch but easily dealt with.
