Hi i have an optimus 8 and trying to get it back in to shape. Got some rost and stuff. Check my video where i take it apart. Almost. What do you guys use to get rid of rust? Also, the pipe are stuck from the fuel tank. Im not sure how much momentum it can handle?

    @Ultrakul

Rust can be treated with a commercial product like “Evaporust”, if it is rust. Or are you talking about corrosion on brass?

Either way, you.can soak in a citric acid solution, but remove and rinse if the brass begins to turn pink.

Look at this thread by @presscall about removing the burner from the tank.

    Optimus No.8

    Cheers

    Hi Tony,
And thank you very much for your answer. Regarding rust or corrosion, im not sure. It looks like rust, on the box and the needel holders. On the brass parts it looks like it just durt on it.
Ill test Citric acid, and also check out the link you mention.

    Best regards,
    Tobbe

For rust on the box, there is a Hammerite rust converter product that contains citric acid. It will act on the rust but not the paint.

    Cheers

Citric acid can usually be found in a grocery store, look in the isle with baking supplies.

    Hi all,
I’ve just acquired the Optimus 111 and the washers need replacing as there is an issue with the pressure and leakage.
I’ve purchased a set of washers from the Fettlebox but I don’t have the necessary tools to perform the work.
Could anybody please inform me who I could contact to perform the necessary repairs?
    TIA
    Dave Whittaker
