    Over to Doug when he takes delivery.

    A 111B burner sealed the outlet pipe for pressure testing but the orientation of the burner when connected would have played a flame onto the tank, so I couldn't fire it up. It needs the unique No.9 burner/pipework, which remained with Doug while I worked on the tank.

    It will be up to me to put up a flame shot. John was kind enough to do this job for me for a Borde bomb gift.

    This is a most impressive fettle. :clap: Looking forward to seeing @Doug L posting flame shots.
    I have never seen an Opt 9 but I would not mind getting my hands on one.

    Best regards

    I have seen and held two different types of Optimus 9 stoves on the same day in the same place.
    So have others, including @Ed Winskill

    Great work!!! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:.

    Great persistence. There's always that feeling of "I hope this works - but I may have really stuffed it up" followed by the sigh of relief or the scream of despair.

    Congratulations.

    Cheers

    Tony

    @Doug L
    The weak point in the strategy is when it gets handed over to USPS.

    Greetings, Stove Mates,

    SB and I are still spending a good bit of time working, and so I've continued to be a bit scarce, of late. But, today, I can here to seek out some info in the Reference Gallery, and by God's Good Grace, stumbled upon this fantastic thread!!! Doug had told me of his good fortune, after he found this stove, and I took an oath of secrecy, which I have happily kept. But, to see Doug's wonderful #9 in the uber-capable hands of John, really made me smile with satisfaction!! I could not be happier to see that Doug's #9 will once again be able to be "whole"! Doug, should you choose not to fire this #9 up, I totally understand! But, there is a part of me that would LOVE to see your stove do what it was designed to do!! Either way, in truth, I'm exceedingly happy for you, my friend!!!

    Master Presscall!!! Front and center, if you please, Sir!!! John, I've long considered you to be one of the most intrepid and skilled fettlers in all my years on CCS! I am gobsmacked after watching, with baited breath, this fettle unfold, to it's successful conclusion!!! I'm proud to know someone like you, John! Not only are your skills, truly, of Master quality, but you are funny, honest, kind, and sharing with your Fellow Stovies!!! Thank you, a thousand times, for sharing this landmark fettle with us all, and sincere, very hardy congratulations on the successes you enjoyed after your work!!! HUZZAH!! HUZZAH!! HUZZAH!!! What a pleasure to find this, today!!! Well done to you, John, and so Doug, for seeking out the best of the best to work on your wonderful #9!!! Take care, and God Bless!

    Every Good Wish,
    Mark (Ye Olde Doc, who is smiling so hard, his face hurts!!!!)

    Well I'm humbled by the kind words Doc, I really am, but will be relieved when the tracked package reaches Doug and the proof is in the pudding!
