    Apologies if this is in the wrong thread.
    I have bought a lovely 96 and ordered the appropriate service kit from Basecamp, but I simply cannot get the washer in to the pump tube, it really doesn’t want to go in there, and its the small size, tried oil but to no avail. Any help much appreciated.

    Hi @Bigbear . Correct forum,

    Try turning the pump leather on the pump piston, so that the base of the pump cup is facing down, then push assembly into the pump tube. Do this a couple of times, or better still leave overnight. Hopefully the leather washer will hold its shape and you can then carefully turn it around to its correct orientation, skirt down, and push the piston in easily.

    Best Regards,
    Kerophile

    I use a dental tool to poke one side or similar object. Even a paper clip or safety pin would assist.

    @kerophile has the best idea.
    I have cut the sides of a soda can to form a sort of funnel to get stubborn pump cups into the tube.
