Hello. Just got an Optimus no 208 from my daughter. Unfortunately, the burner was not present Can anyone on this page indicate a place where it can be purchased. I'm aware it's quite rare. Tom
Do you have another stove of similar size that you could compare, then find a donor stove to use its burner on your 208? A pic of the top would help. Only one photo in the SRG. Duane
Hi, the Optimus 208 used a “UFO” type silent burner, this sort of thing: Primus R118 /Radius Hybrid Burner Best Regards, Kerophile.
@hikerduane Hi Here are a few pictures of the top. I have written incorrectly. it's the flame spreader I'm missing. It seems that the flame spreader is of the UFO type. Tom
Those come up on some auction sites now and then. I paid over 40 USD a few years ago for a unused one. Duane
She's a rare beauty and looks unfired? A finer point re "Those come up on some auction sites now and then." Re The "Those" in this context may be referring to UFO type? (vs "Optimus" UFO). The "Optimus" 208 UFO burner is extremely rare. Your chance of finding the "Optimus" 227 cap for it, may be near zero? Rare too is Primus 212 burner. Researching UFO type caps finds a couple choices, from Radius. 4/37 5/37 source Also rare but maybe there's a few more around? (vs Optimus 208) What "should be" good news, the two sizes of Radius UFO burners, 4/37 & 5/37, can share the same cap. You can maybe hope to find a Radius UFO cap, and once in hand, check for fit and function. The question as to: If they are compatible? is not a topic we've ever covered, as far as I know. Another option (for closest to original look) might be to acquire a complete 4/37 or 5/37 burner. Then comes choice, which one to pick that would be more similar to original look of the 2 pinter Optimus 208?... I do not have a guess as to which one to choose at the moment. Good luck. @Tom Pedersen
Radius 5/37 is the one that fits the stove. 4/37 is a shorter version used on Radius 21 as far as I remember, The Optimus 227 UFO cap and the Radius UFO cap can be interchanged (as well as the Høvik UFO cap - but that one is harder to use) @OMC @Tom Pedersen
Well well well janders, chock full of good news ! Excellent ! Thank you. this is certainly a wonderful development on topic.
My caps look the same, will have to look them over, one is steel I believe. I know my Radius flame is blue close to the cap, but gain yellow color at flame tip. Duane
