Hello, Ihave an Optimus 8, but the stands are missing...if anybody could give me the dimensions to make new ones ... Thanks in advance Olivier
did you take a look in teh refernce gallery to get an idea? 6mm galvanised steel tent pegs could be used for the basic material. I just made one for a Primus 96 although a smaller diameter for a smaller stove. I also used a blow-torch to get the metal orange hot for bending in a vice. You will end up cracking/burning the zinc coating but that's inevitable i think.
Hi my optimus 8 says REG No 801106 and swedish pat no 71018 on the front, nickel plated, seams an early one. Thanks in advance Olivier
Hi @kok Optimus No:8 (version prior to the 8R) I will look for my stove tomorrow now that I have established what you are looking for = dimensions of pot stands. GREEN PAINTED PATENTED CASE OPTIMUS 8 Best Regards, Kerophile.
Hi @kok I found my green case Optimus 8 today. The stove is fitted with two pan supports, which are goal-post shape. Material is mild steel but SS would also be suitable. The section is nominally 3.5mm diameter. Horizontal section is 120mm long, measured to outside of curves. Vertical height is 75mm, again measured to outside of curve. Each vertical has a flattened section extending approx 35mm from the bottom of the verticals. The flat section is on the outer surface of the verticals, the inner section is curved. At the point of the vertical the section is 2 mm x 4.8mm, at the mid-point it is approx. 2.5mm x 4.6mm, tending towards circular as it meets rod. Trust this helps. Best Regards, Kerophile.
Thank you snwcmpr, I m not totally happy with the tool... The cover is too thin and too soft for the pressure of the press
Hi @kok Looks impressive! Did you use mild steel or SS? How does it fit on your stove? Best Regards, Kerophile.
It's ss, 4mm A4 The stand fit perfectly on the stove, but I had to adjust the flattened end to a cone with a file. The second one will be more demanding to adjust the final height. I ll send photos of the stove after repaint. Please excuse my bad English. Best regards Olivier
