Fortunately it was cheap on ebay, because it came as a kit of parts.

That pipe should be in that hole and fuel-tight

The mounting screw on the burner base is a known weakness and this example had taken a bash and was at an angle. I heated it to cherry red and carefully bent it back into line. Doing so with it cold would have snapped it off

The pipe went back into the hole and the brazing made sure it would hold pressure

A kit of parts I said, but missing a pump. I can't go into it here (one for the 'Frankies, Mods and Hybrids column) but I set about marrying it up with the pump from my Primus Omnifuel, which meant I could try out the Nova on a butane/propane mix

    Works fine

Hi john a first class job on the nova burner you have done a superb job with the brazing it is very neatly done with just the right amount of silversolder on the right part.
And well done on getting a cheap Score on ebay as i have seen all these type of stove's fetch a good price on the bay

Great work John. I just did a much worse job on some thing similar. I take it that is an s9 hose. I got 2 this week and they are now much thicker, and much easier to fit to the novas fittings.

Do you know how the stove got into that state?

I've just taken a look at your post on what you did - absolutely brilliant, Dan

Nova on an Omni pump in 'Frankies, Mods and Hybrids' Forum

How'd this Nova get into that state? Dunno, got a bash, or three, sometime I suppose. Seller said it was in 'good' condition and had 100% feedback so I gave him the benefit of the doubt with an overall positive feedback rating but annotated with an 'inaccurate' marking for description. I was confident I could fix it and thought it was a good price (even as a kit of parts) so I didn't hassle for a discount.

Beautiful work, John. And very interesting seeing a Nova running on gas.

I have a similar vintage Nova with the known weak bolt. I'm very careful when I tighten it up to just snug it up a bit -- and no more. I don't want shear it off since I really don't want a Katadyn-era post CEJN connector version of the Nova -- if they would even give me one since I have no proof of purchase. In the mean time, my Nova is running well and with any luck will continue to do so.

This link is not working. Do you recall where that is/was?

Every few months I think I want to add the canister function to my Nova.

    Does THIS link work Ken?

I subsequently found that a Nova works best on isobutane when the a spare jet bored out to 0.4mm is installed.

@snwcmpr I think the thread mentioned is not a note worthy one, I am pretty sure it was just crimping a Chinese fuel line on to an Optimus fitting with oetiker clamps.

Ok, Thank you all for the posts. I will eventually get my Nova to run the 3. WG, Kero, & Canister. It is just a matter of getting the Lindal connector for the butane canister. I am obviously not in a hurry. :)
