    Have this Barthel lead smelter or plumber's furnace,
    Don't know if it belongs here.

    Dear Tom
    I yesterday aquired the same burner. I think it is used to melt asphalt or so in road maintenance....
    I wonder of what period it is.

    Can you carry it? Can you put a pot on top to make a brew? It obviously runs on hydrocarbon fuel

    Has a bail.

    Accepts a pot to melt lead: brew may be poisonous but can definitely be made in same pot.

    Liquid hydrocarbon fuel.

    Seems to be 3/3.

    Unless drinking of the tea/rooibos/coffee is required?

    @Moggie

    These were used for a range of uses, but lead melting by plumbers was the usual, often confirmed by lead stuck inside the windshield/support. But if yours did bitumen, that would not be a shock. They were largely replaced by alternative sealing substances and propane burners. Occupational Health and Safety: who needs it?
