I found this old Pazgaz Butane stove in the flea market. It is quite nostalgic for me - one like this was my first ever camp stove, in the late 1960's. It was manufactured in Israel by some unknown subcontractor, and distributed by a major gas company - PAZGAZ. A similar stove accompanied me in military service in the desert during the 1973 war, and was responsible for a hot cup of tea every morning. We took turns in sleeping with the gas cartridge inside the sleeping bag, otherwise there was no gas pressure in the cold morning temperature. nice job of fixing it up..it never fails to amaze me at all the ways a propane tank can be made into a stove!!!
Must have been a lot of butane in the cylinder, here, those same cylinders are filled with propane, and it'd have to be really f**king COLD before we'd get NO pressure! Murph
Indeed, it would have been a lot nicer if we had propane, which has some pressure down to -20 C. Our morning temp was typically around 5 - 8 C, and there butane has practically no pressure. As it was, PAZGAZ was the company that sold (and still sells) butane cylinders for home cooking, and naturally put it in the camping stove as well. I believe propane was not available in Israel until the 1980's. Yonadav
