Primus 21 - pre 1911?

    It shows that the fount was originally marked before 1911 but as I learned when producing engine parts - when we produced full batches, there was usually a small surplus of parts that was used up in first pallets of next batch - parts in need of correction was usually put aside for later attention, sometimes they were delivered in the original batch but sometimes they could be stored for several years before a shortage motivated the effort to make them ready for delivery.
    I think there was a similar reason explaining why a few stoves and blowlamps of some years seem to have inconsistent markings.

    The Reference Gallery shows quite a few examples of pre-1911 Primus stoves with numbers and letters stamped outside the Primus stamp on the base of the tank, for example “N” and “L”.

    These could not be letter stamps indicating a date.
