Hello Everyone. I recently bought a Primus No.1 at a flea market and I don't see any date on it. Does anyone know how to find the date? I have a patent number on the grate on top if that helps. Any info would be appreciated. Thank You!
Hi @D.C. Stove collecter Primus Dating Chart 1911 - 1964 It is just possible that your Primus No.1 pre-dates the introduction of date-coding. Best regards, Kerophile.
The 1892-1910 Primus stoves can often be dated within a few years and sometimes narrower by detail work, text and logotypes - as you have the number 1, it isn't the first few years. 1911-at least 1957 of no.1 style Primus has the date code under mid bottom of the tank - first in the round text logo and later in a small circle usually with a number without any time significance. Later than 1957 there can be a tricky to find number code or no code at all - there are few changes from late 1930's to the last ones of Primus No.1 and No.5.
