Cheers John I could not resist it and have stripped her down already and started to clean up parts etc. I may well get her running then get you to do the pump tube it has the logo Primus made in Sweden on it so I did wonder if a brass insert inside was the answer to preserve the logo and leave the outer surface oval what do you think? It is very easy to simply solder a suitably drilled brass washer into the inside of the cap, not quite such a professional end product as a sillbrazed insert, but perfectly functional and it does preserve the original look of the outer side. And after another 100 years of hard use it can then be melted out and replaced with another ...
Hi Nick The example I gave happened not to have script on it but the technique wouldn't obliterate the embossed lettering.
