Here is my Primus No. 4 from 1912 (B). It does not have the correct burner (unfortunately). It came with the original instructions (posted here) and a paper identification label denoting it as "Primus No. 4 Self-Lighting". I like the aesthetics of the rounded feet. The (self-lighting) priming dish affixed to the tank. The pump. The stove came with a 1950s Primus roarer burner (The stove was serviced in 1968 - see documents below): The stove came with many additional items (including the fact that it was owned by a Miss Lutz; and that it had been serviced in 1968): Note the duelling blow-lamps. The original instruction sheet from 1912 (in detail here). A flame spreader made from a piece of tinned steel, probably from a 4 gallon kerosene tin. Many prickers. A metho jar. A kerosene tin. And all fitting into this (1971) biscuit carton (note: Australian, not north American, biscuits): 1971 printing mark. All I need now is an original silent burner for this stove. Cheers Tony
@gieorgijewski Look through the discussion about the “self-lighting” stoves and the position of the spirit cup here: https://classiccampstoves.com/threads/primus-no-4-1915-e.34896/#post-425348 Best regards Tony
@Tony Press Tony, you have a very nice and very rare Primus self-lighting stove. You already know that it has a replacement burner. It was originally fitted with the same silent burner as a No.5 Junior. That should not be too difficult to obtain (I hope). I would love to see photos of the self-igniting process and if it works as Primus intended.
