I had the leg fall off a Burmos 21 while soldering the pump tube back in. It was an easy fix, but certainly not a planned one. Since then, I've kept this from happening by putting the steel leg in the tube next to the spot being soldered. It helps absorb the heat. It's worked for me so far. I just had the unwanted experience of having to pull a pump tube out of a beautiful Op.00 Patent. I had to remove the bottom from the tube and could not get the NRV out of it until the whole assembly was completely red hot. Even then, it was a difficult extraction. Everything went back together well and it'll get it's test burn tomorrow.
